A Veneered plywood project

This family wanted something fun, light, functional, easy to clean and very cool.

A breakfast bar was a must and when we saw the underside of the stairway, it felt like a great place to put a tea and coffee station along with drawers underneath for people to dump pocket items before getting into the kitchen.

Everything is birch plywood with a durable and wipeable veneer on the doors.

These people were keen to get brave with colour and after a good amount of sampling, looking at samples in different lights with samples of the rest of the finishes, we decided on this!

The Denton worktop with waterfall edges is also a really nice feature.

We came here before building work commenced and planned it out around the still standing walls that were to come down.

When it came to fitting, the new opening had actually moved further across than initially planned so we ended up making another handy cabinet to extend the sink run and give a bit more space.

Penzance Contemporary Shaker Kitchen

This was a special project.

The owner of this property came to us first before looking for a builder to take on the deep retrofit of this sprawling 1930's build.

They loved cooking and wanted something that not just looked beautiful but flowed well and put up with heavy daily use.

Of course - our Birch ply cabinets, solid wood frames and doors along with solid oak dovetail drawers definitely fitted the brief.

There are lots of great additions to this project, like the downdraft extractor, custom spice rack and pegboards for organisation, open drawer section in the larder and a marble surface in the larder along with ventilation holes in the rear of the unit to allow for airflow and keeping breads and cheeses along with being perfect for cooling preserves.

We also made the solid oak worktops and ended up making a utility room and wardrobe for the same property.

This kitchen was for a converted boathouse on the banks of the river Fowey. The clients came to us with the idea of a more traditional shaker kitchen but after some conversations, decided on this picture frame or micro shaker kitchen.

Complete with solid oak drawers, clever corner mechanisms and quality appliances, it holds a quiet competence that we think will age gracefully.

Bespoke Storage solution - Helford

This storage unit, measuring at over 4 and a half metres long gives a LOT of storage for this ex pilots busy office. We went for an open modular solution for the top and a long row of doors to hide all the loose paper most of us have in our offices somewhere!

I was very proud of this project not just because it was a great project for good people but because it allowed me to indulge my interest in sacred geometry. I used the Golden ratio to design the top box layout. It's something I always try and work into designs but when I got home with the measurements I practically jumped out of my seat with excitement.... Sad I know!!

The Old Schoolroom

The Old School Room - Laddock

The owner of this stunning property wanted to sensitively refresh the old school room. The alcove units were sanded back, repaired and replacement doors made up to fit the wonky openings to match the existing ones.

We also came up with a plan to put an integrated filing cabinet in one of the openings, PLUS a sliding shelf for a printer.

On top of the alcove units they wanted a bespoke desk with storage. It was tricky to maximise storage without taking up any desk space or make it feel too enclosed when working at the desk.

The customer was very happy with the outcome, and so were we!

One thing you will notice is that the masking tape handles are still on as the customers were so excited to get in, that when we came to fit the handles the room was being moved into!

This Customer had a lot of clothes, and very little space to keep them in this newly renovated school house.. After going back and forth with concepts we came up with this bespoke wardrobe to maximise storage in the room by creating an angled unit to fill what was otherwise dead space.

A Contemporary Take on a Classic Shaker

This bespoke kitchen in Sennen was a hugely satisfying job. Not just it is at one of my favourite beaches but because the brief was quite precise.

The owner of this property is a renowned art dealer who's eye for detail can't be underestimated. The brief was classic design and I only want drawers.

I took this a step further and decided to make false fronts up for the appliances so all of the units not only looked uniform but the lines all married up perfectly around the kitchen weather they were secret doors or drawers.

I was very happy with the finished outcome and most importantly, so was the customer!

Constantine Alcove

The owner of this Georgian property in Constantine, Cornwall wanted some bespoke alcove storage in one of the reception rooms.

Made in a very traditional framed style with moulded face frames, in frame shaker doors, butt hinges and some custom decorative vents to assist airflow around the back of the unit. These work very well sprayed in house with little Greene “rolling fog dark” with the calming muted colour pallet in this space. The frames and doors are made of tulip (poplar), the door panels are birch ply. The carcass’ are oak veneered birch ply with solid oak edging finished in a hard wearing clear coat.

The owner was absolutely delighted and booked straight in for another slot in the calendar for some more work.
